Dasavatharam Vs Sivaji

It would interesting to compare the collections of Dasavatharam and Sivaji. Last week Dasavatharam started tumbling and falling from its 12th position to a worrisome 19th position at the UK box office although with marginal effect on the collections. The movie collected $426,770 during its second as opposed to Sivaji that collected $546,738 in its second week at the UK box office. Rajinikanth Rocks!

Another interesting stat to be noted is that Dasavatharam is released in 8 more than theatres than Sivaji. Analysts predict Dasavatharam to fetch $700000 in total while Sivaji garnered $800000 during its run. While this is the status of UK box office, its Malaysian counterpart does not present a rosy picture either. The weekend has registered a collection of $1,208,007 while Sivaji garnered $1,471,454 during the same period. Malaysian trade experts aver that it would be a Herculean task for Dasavatharam to reach $ 2.5 million that Sivaji garnered during its run. To add to the woes, the Will Smith starrer Hancock is also releasing this weekend that is sure to dampen the Dasavatharam collections. This shows Rajinikanth has more fans than Kamal!

Butterfly Effect

Hey guys! I came to know a concept called “Butterfly Effect” from the Dasavathaaram movie. So I would like to tell you guys something about this effect. The butterfly effect is a phrase that encapsulates the more technical notion of sensitive dependence on initial conditions in chaos theory. Small variations of the initial condition of a dynamical system may produce large variations in the long term behavior of the system. So this is sometimes presented as esoteric behavior, but can be exhibited by very simple systems: for example, a ball placed at the crest of a hill might roll into any of several valleys depending on slight differences in initial position.

The phrase refers to the idea that a butterfly's wings might create tiny changes in the atmosphere that may ultimately alter the path of a tornado or delay, accelerate or even prevent the occurrence of a tornado in a certain location. The flapping wing represents a small change in the initial condition of the system, which causes a chain of events leading to large-scale alterations of events. Had the butterfly not flapped its wings, the trajectory of the system might have been vastly different. Of course the butterfly cannot literally cause a tornado. The kinetic energy in a tornado is enormously larger than the energy in the turbulence of a butterfly. The kinetic energy of a tornado is ultimately provided by the sun and the butterfly can only influence certain details of weather events in a chaotic manner. Rajini is always the superstar and superior to all stars. Yeah! Our Superstar will do 20 roles, but not throughout a film. Rajinikanth is going to appear in 20 getups in one of the songs of Kuselan. When P. Vasu was enquired about this, he agreed that Rajinikanth is going to appear in 20 getups, but said he will not reveal them at the moment as it decreases curiosity and interest levels of the audience and whole rajini fans. This is not something new to Rajni; since he had appeared in 9 getups in the song ‘Azhagu’ from Baasha and this time it is 9+11=20.

Saroja Devi gets Lifetime Achievement Award

In order to mark the end of the Diamond Jubilee Independence Day celebrations this year, the Central Govt has decided to honor film personalities with the Lifetime Achievement Award. 4 personalities from the Indian film industry have been shortlisted for these awards. Kamal's Magnum opus is rocking all over the world. The performance of Dasavathaaram is very impressive not only in the domestic market but also in the overseas areas. According to the Malaysian Box office collections that was reported for the period June 12 to 15, Dasavatharam stands in second position having grossed $601,307, being screened at 58 theatres. The movie at the first position is ‘The Incredible Hulk’. Lets hope Dasavatharam drags the Hulk down.

In Britain, where usually Bollywood films rule the roost, Dasavatharam stands at 11th position having pushed Ram Gopal Verma’s Sarkar Raj to 16th place in the period June13th to June 15th. Dasavatharam Movie Review, Criticism, Synopsis and Storyline

Hey guys! Just came back home after watching the Kamal's Magnum opusDasavatharam movie. Please don't miss the first 15 minutes of the movie.That is the best portion among the whole package i can say.

The story line starts with the clash between vaishnavas and shivas. it is an incident that took place in the 12th century during the period of kulothunga chozha. Here comes the charcter 'Nambi'. No other avatar of kamal has impressed as nambi did. The set looks real. It will sure drive the audience to the ancient age itself. Hats off to cinematographer Ravivarman. 'kallai mattum kandal' song with such visual effect is really awesome.

The rest of the story line revolves around how the scientist kamal 'govind' invent a dreadful element, later realizing its consequence trying to destroy it but the American govt not granting him the permission. So he escapes from the laboratory with his invention but the white American Fletcher tip toed him all the way. The element was parceled to an incorrect address in india. An old hag ( very much similar to 'avvai shanmugi' kamal) receives that parcel unknowingly she puts that element into a Vishnu idol. How govind kamal along with asin recapturing that parcel and destroying it ? How fletcher kamal induces problem to the scientist? Like that story revolves. Other avatars of kamal just come and go and are of not much importance and not that effective.George W. bush character is cool i think that is the only character that had good make up cast. Tsunami at the climax is also a fantastic and clever work, interesting to watch.

First time Asin plays a dual role in the movie. She comes as a grand daughter to the old hag and also as the wife of 'Nambi' character. Mallika sherawat is really hot, she comes as a translator to the villan kamal. Napolean as Kulothunga chozha is really an artistic performance. Jaya pradha comes as the wife of punjabi kamal. Back ground music by Devi sriprasad is descent enough to have some feel. Among the songs 'Mukutha Mukuntha' is melodious and humming. Final song 'ulaganayagane' (all 10 avatars appears in this song) scores good beat.

Overall i can say it's a good movie to watch. But something is missing in the movie. I wonder how kamal included lots of masala ingredients in his movie. Rare to see such things in kamal's film. But may be the high budget would have made him to do so. An usual story line with much hype . But this movie is surely a mega hit. I would give 9 out of 10 marks for "DASAVATHARAM".

On June 12^th, Oscar Ravichandran arranged a special show of Dasavatharam movie for some special tamil cine stars. It was really a star studded show. After watching the movie, the veteran actress and the beautiful queen of comedy was moved to tears because of great excitement at witnessing such a grand epic.

She was so overwhelmed that she was not even able to speak. She embraced Kamal Haasan, cried on his shoulder, and then congratulated him. Hats off to kamal and the entire Dasavatharam ream!

Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2008 Ranklist

I know that the Engineering Aspiring Students of Tamilnadu are waiting for TNEA 2008 Rank list. Glad news for you guys! The Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2008) rank list will be released on June 25, sources at the Anna University, Guindy said. They added that the single window counselling for the academic stream candidates for admissions to U.G courses offered at the Anna University, Government and aided engineering colleges and the government quota seats in the self-financing engineering colleges will begin on July 11.

And till now, 1,38,855 students have purchased the Anna University application forms for the engineering admission. Just 5 days before releasing the rank list, the Anna University, Guindy authorities will assign random numbers to all the applications submitted by candidates to determine the seniority list in case of a tie. The random number will be used to break the tie if more than one candidate had scored the same cut-off and shared the same date of birth. After the rank list is published, the counselling for students applying under the sports quota will begin on July 3. The counselling for vocational stream candidates will be conducted from July 4 to 8. The following day counselling will be held for candidates from states other than Tamil Nadu. Counseling will held for Physically Challenged Applicants on July 10th. The Entire single window counselling is scheduled to be completed on or before August 31. All the best Students!.
