Yuvan gets into "silambaattam"!

Yuvan replaces Dhina. Silambarasan is currently working hard on Silambattam. And why not? After the lukewarm response to his Vallavan, the young actor was banking Kaalai to succeed. However, Kaalai was a disaster even though the actor had worked on it for almost a year.

Now, Simbu wants his Silambattam to be the rage at the box-office. Silambattam is the directorial debut of cinematographer Saravanan, who has worked on successful films like Chennai 6000028. Simbu is paired with Mumbai model Sana Khan in the film.

Earlier, Dhina was roped in to compose the music the film. However, now it seems that the unit has replaced Dhina with Yuvanshankar Raja, who is currently at the prime of his form.

It seems the team decided to go for Yuvan because of his higher saleability and also because he knows the pulse of Simbu as the two are close buddies. The two had earlier come together to give some rocking numbers in Manmadhan and Vallavan. One can expect similar fireworks now in Silambattam too.

Jodhaa Akbar to be dubbed in Tamil!

After having wowed audiences in the Hindi belt, Ashutosh Gowariker’s magnum opus Jodhaa Akbar, starring Hristhik Roshan Aishwarya Rai, is now to be released in Tamil.

The music for the film is by maestro A.R. Rahman, who has come out with some grand numbers. The Tamil lyrics have been written by Na. Muthukumar. The audio, released recently, has been doing well, say sources.

The film has turned out to be a super-hit, especially in the overseas where it is doing terrific business aided by favourable reviews from the foreign press. The domestic revenue too has been above average considering that the film has not been released in Rajasthan and has been banned in Madhya Pradesh and certain other areas.

The Hindi version, released two weeks back, has so far collected 65 lakhs from Chennai alone. This is indeed quite a feat, considering the film’s running time of 3 hours and 30 minutes.

However, UTV is planning to release a more tightly-edited version. The dubbed version will release across Tamilnadu on March 6th.

Chandramukhi in Hindi!

Yes the Rajini starrer Chandramukhi in the direction of P Vasu, produced under the Sivaji Productions banner was a big time blockbuster, raking in the big bills for all involved. The movie which in itself was a remake of a Malayalam movie, was a thrilling and entertaining experience.

The younger looking Super Star was as stylish as ever and his teaming up with Vadivelu provided ample comic relief. Vidhyasagar’s tunes were the rage! In every way the movie was a hit and it struck gold the box office.

Well, the team has got together and given the movie a language make over! On the 29th of February, Chandramukhi dubbed in Hindi will hit screens across the nation. The highlight of this dubbed movie is that Super Star has dubbed for his character himself!

Nayanthara pairs up with "ilayathalapathi"!

The hot news is that ilayathalapathi may pair up with Nayanthara. The two have not shared screen space beyond that enrapturing dance number in Sivakasi. The two almost starred together in Kuruvi, but for reasons unknown, Nayan withdrew and Trisha took the spot. But having sampled the pair in the Sivakai song, fans having been waiting for Nayantara and Vijay to act together. And looks like that wish is soon to be fulfilled!

The latest news making its rounds in the cine circle is that Nayan has signed on for a film to be directed by Prabhu Deva, which has Vijay in the lead! It appears to us that her sexy stint in Billa has created waves, landing the actress some terrific roles including the lead in Ajith’s next movie Aegan!

Does burning the midnight oil before the exams help you?

Hi ppl. We generally used to study late nights for examz. Thats beacuase we dont have much of disturbance and deviations nights. But its not good to our health to study late nights. Actually tens of thousands of students across the country are burning the midnight oil for their board examinations barely a week away. But they should watch out for their health.

Studying through the night and waking up late in the morning may not be a good idea. The body clock may refuse to adjust when the examinations dawn, making students groggy and tired when they need to be alert and focussed.

Several students stay awake at night because they can study undisturbed for hours with just their table lamp for company. But they don't realise that the will have to be up and about for the 10.30 a.m.-1.30 p.m. examination schedule beginning March 1.

Manan Gupta, a Class 12 student, studies till 4 a.m. every day and sleeps till noon the next day during the ongoing study break. He finds that his concentration level is at its best at night.

'I am able to cram my social studies lessons very well at night. My younger brother cannot disturb me, and my friends also do not call up. So, I study - with a small break to play on the computer - till I tire at around 4 a.m.'

Another reason for Manan to stay up at the night are his taxing coaching school schedules - three-four hours daily with maths, science, computers and Sanskrit packed in for which he has to study their given study material, do the exhaustive homework and also take regular tests.

The night is practically the only time he has to study on his own. Though he brushes aside the possibility of night-time studying taking a toll on him during examinations, he says: 'I think I shall be fine, but maybe there is sense in this talk about the body clock. '

Rahman to make Broadway-style musical in india!

A.R.Rahman is considered to be one of the stylish music Director. And the man who redefined music in Indian films is now set to redefine it again. But this time, it will now be in films, but in theatre. Yes. After scoring successive hits with his Bombay Dreams and Lord of the Rings Musical abroad, India’s best-known composer is now in the initial stages of making a Broadway-style musical in India.

Rahman, who always yearns to be different, wants to give Indian audiences a musical treat that will enable them to experience the joy and thrill of watching a Broadway musical in India. Rahman is right now working on a proper script for the musical and intends to showcase his grand musical production in India before taking it around the world.

The cast and crew will be predominantly Indian, though Rahman hopes to bring in some big names from the West too for his Indian musical. The ‘Isai Puyal’ assures that the show will be up to international standards. However, he says he cannot talk about the budget right now, as the venture is still in its infancy. Rahman’s Bombay Dreams cost 4.5 million pounds while The Lord of the Rings Musical cost a whopping Rs. 950 million.

Time and again, Rahman has been exploring new avenues in music, setting a path for others to follow. He infused a breath of fresh air into the Indian album scene with his 'Vande Mataram'. His Bombay Dreams took popular Indian music to the West and had foreigners lapping it up. He had also the composed hit singles, ‘Pray For Me, Brother’ for the UN and ‘One Love’, a tribute to the Taj Mahal. Recently, on January 6, Rahman had announced his plans of setting up a music school in Chennai, thus coming out with country’s own orchestra.

Senthil and Goundamani : Back to form!

Senthil and Goundamani is said to be the greatest Comic duo in the world cinema!. Can anybody forget the vazhaipazham comedy sequence in the super hit Karakattakaran? Goundamani and Senthil pulled off the simplest of jokes with a style that no other comic duo has ever been able imitate since. Almost every time they teamed up, they had us in splits.

After quite a long period of separation, the two will share screen space in Idhayathin Kadhai. Goundamani has only recently made a come back with Thangam, while Senthil is busy with Adhivasiyum Adhiseyapesiyum, which has him in the lead. But with news that they are getting back together, every one is waiting expectantly to see if the duo still create the same magic.

Amitabh in "ROBOT"!

The "Robot" Movie is the main talk of the kollywood and the state. The Robot team is getting bigger in terms of cast, cost and star value! Every day, there is a new star on board this mega ship, but most often we can never be sure who will disembark at the next port!

Recently ,we got news that Aishwarya is no more in the movie; two days later, we heard that she is once again in the reckoning. So as of now, she still has one foot in. Next, we heard that Arjun, who has already teamed up with Shankar twice before, is playing a pivotal role in Robot. But the latest is that Shankar has roped in Amithabh Bachchan as well!

The Superstar of Bollywood and the Super Star of Kollywood have shared screen space in hindi films, but this will be the first time they get together in a Tamil flick. Lets wait and watch whether it's a rumour or not!

Movie Review: Jodhaa Akbar!

Hi all!. All i can say is that the movie is been worth the wait after all those release date postponements and other delays. Brilliant performances from almost all the actors who appear on screen, great production values and stunning execution by the director Ashutosh Gowariker. For those of you looking for some spice, yes, Hrithik and Ash do share a fleeting kiss.

Jodhaa Akbar's Specialities:

A bare-chested Hrithik practising his skill with the sword
His duel with an elephant
A scene where Akbar tells Jodhaa that he can neither read nor write
The swordfight between Jodhaa and Akbar after he goes to Amer (Jaipur) to manao her.
The Sufi number, Khwaja Mere Khwaja
The hand-to-hand combat between Nikitin Dheer (Sharifuddin) and Hrithik (Jalaluddin Akbar)
The lovemaking scene between Jodhaa and Akbar
When he throws a close aide, Adham Khan headlong from the balcony (twice!) for killing Raza Murad’s character, Shamsuddin Atka Khan
The elaborate dance sequence after Akbar annuls pilgrimage tax (Azeem-O-Shaan-Shahenshah)

On the whole, JODHAA AKBAR is, without a shred of doubt, a brilliant film in all respects. This historical has all it takes to prove the first blockbuster of 2008. Very strongly recommended!

Arjun may have lead role in "Robot"!

We’ll never know for sure who’s on and who isn’t until Shankar decides to make a statement about the cast for his magnum opus Robot! What’s known for sure is that Rajinikanth will play the lead. Who will fill the heroine's spot, the villain's role and the other supporting characters is a big question mark. The longer the silence, the stronger and stranger the assumptions! The latest to join the winding list of Robot rumours is the news that Action King Arjun has been roped in for a pivotal role in the movie.

Recently, in Super Star's movies, not just Rajinikanth, but even the villain gets a fair share of attention. Will Arjun sport an anti-hero guise? His earlier ventures with Shankar were massive hits; will Robot join them?

"AEGAN", Ajith's next movie!

Meaning ‘the one and only’, Aegan has been finalized as the title of Ajith’s next movie, for which shooting is already underway! Informed sources say that the title, Aegan, is a word used in praise of Lord Shiva and means ‘unique’. For Ajith, who is indeed a one-of-kind star, this title fits like a crown!

Aegan is directed by dance master-turned-director Raju Sundaram and produced by Ayangaran International, which co-produced the victorious Billa. Released in December, Billa continues to rock the cine scene, unperturbed by the host of films that have hit the screen since. Given the immense success of Billa, there’s quite a lot of pressure on Raju to deliver. He is thoroughly confident in his story which is similar to the story of Shah Rukh’s Main Hoon Na. And he has great faith in Thalai’s acting prowess.

As for the lead lady… If rumours are to be believed, then Katrina will fill that part.

Let’s hope that Aegan will let help the Ultimate Star ascend higher in cine space!

Simbu,dhanush to team up!

It is being reported in trade circles that Dhanush and Silambarasan will team up for a film to be directed by Prabhudeva. Even though both have denied it, the two young actors are considered to be arch-rivals in the industry. The two display great camaraderie in public functions. Recently, the two were seen greeting each other with a warm hug at a preview show in the city.

Recently, Prabhudeva had met Silambarasan to narrate a story. The choreographer-turned-director is currently directing Salman Khan for the Pokkiri remake, Wanted Dead or Alive. After this, he will be teaming up with Vijay, with whom he gave Pokkiri, for a film to be produced by Ayngaran Films International.

Sources say that Prabhudeva will make the Dhanush-Simbu movie, tentatively titled Agni Natchathiram, after completing these two projects. However, it is not known whether the movie will be a remake of Mani Ratnam’s classic with the same name.

Shah Rukh Follows Rajni!

When Rajinikanth saw Katha Parayumbol, he loved the movie so much that he wanted the film to be remade in Tamil. P. Vasu and K. Balachander came together for this film, where Rajni reprises the role done by Mammootty. Kuselan is being made in Tamil and Telugu.

Now Priyadarshan, who has remade many Malayalam films in Hindi, is making the film in Hindi with Shah Rukh Khan into Mammootty's shoes.

Looks like SRK is now following Superstar's footsteps.

Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja!

Ilaiyaraaja(born June 2, 1943 as Gnanadesikan) is an Indian film composer, singer, and lyricist. He has composed over 4,000 songs and provided background music for more than 800 Indian films in various languages in a career spanning 30 years. He is based in Chennai, India. Ilaiyaraaja was the most prominent composer of film music in South Indian cinema during the late 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s. His work integrated Tamil folk lyricism and introduced broader Western musical sensibilities into the South Indian musical mainstream. He has thrice won the Indian National Film Award for best film scoring. He is married to Jeeva, and the couple's two sons (Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja) and daughter (Bhavatharini) are film composers and singers.

Ilaiyaraaja was born into a poor rural family in Pannaipuram, Theni district, Tamil Nadu, India. He was the third son of Ramaswamy and Chinnathayammal. Growing up in a farming area, Ilaiyaraaja was exposed to Tamil folk music, such as the songs sung by farmers working in the fields. His formative contact with music-making and performance came at the age of 14, when he joined a travelling musical troupe headed by his elder step-brother, Pavalar Varadarajan, who was a propaganda musician for the Communist Party of India

In Chennai, Ilaiyaraaja worked in a band for hire involved in performing music for various stage shows and formal occasions. Ilaiyaraaja also worked as a session guitarist and keyboardist/organist for film music composers and directors such as Salil Chowdhury from West Bengal, who often recorded music in Madras.

Ilaiyaraaja has won the Gold Remi Award for Best Music Score jointly with film composer M. S. Viswanathan at the WorldFest-Houston Film Festival for the film Vishwa Thulasi (2005).He was conferred the title Isaignani ('savant of music') in 1988 by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi and received the Kalaimamani Award, an annual award for excellence in the field of arts from the Government of the State of Tamil Nadu, India. He also received State Government Awards from the governments of Kerala (1995), Andhra Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh (The Lata Mangeshkar Award) (1998) for excellence in music.

Smoking kills nearly a million indians every year!

Smoking is killing nearly a million people a year in India, exacting a higher toll than previously thought, but allied problems are often different to those seen in the West, according to research published on Thursday.A study published in the New England Journal of Medicine shows Indian smokers prefer traditional leaf-wrapped, hand-rolled "beedis" to manufactured filter brands; are more likely to die of tuberculosis than cancer; and, almost never quit."The extreme risks from smoking that we found surprised us, as smokers in India start at a later age than those in Europe or America and smoke less," said lead author Prabhat Jha of the Toronto-based Centre for Global Health Research. The results are partly explained by the fact that, unlike in the West, many people in India are infected with asymptomatic tuberculosis. Smoking can cause enough damage to the lungs that the latent infection can no longer be contained, researchers said. As a result, tuberculosis is the most common cause of smoking-related deaths among Indian men.Around 120 million people smoke in India, most of them men, according to the study.Indian health authorities want tobacco companies to print grisly images of tobacco-related diseases on packets of cigarettes and beedis, but face opposition from politicians keen to protect the jobs of tobacco workers. Researchers arrived at their results by comparing the smoking history of 74,000 Indians who had recently died with 78,000 living Indians.

Shriya rocks Pakistan!

Just as Shriya created waves in South Indian cinema, her Hindi film Awarapan proved to be a box-office hit in Pakistan.
Her film with Emraan Hashmi, released simultaneously on both sides of the border, may not have been a hit in India. but the Pakistani audience has loved her film. Way to go, Shriya!
The actress is currently working in couple of Hindi projects as well as a Hollywood film. As everyone knows, In Tamil her next film is Kanthaswamy with Vikram.

Mozhi changes mozhi!

Mozhi, starring Jyotika, Prithviraj and Prakashraj, directed by Radha Mohan and produced by Duet Films, might be remade in Hindi. The touching love story did well at the box-office last year. It is heard that the director is keen to make the film in Hindi and talks are underway.
This is not the first time that a Tamil film is being remade in Hindi. Hits like Pokkiri, Ghajini are also being made in Hindi. And this trend works both ways. Many Hindi movies have been made in Tamil too. But of late, the trend has reversed, which is a welcome trend for Tamil films.

Obama rolled to 2 decisive U.S wins!

Democrat Barack Obama easily won two more nominating contests on Tuesday, extending his winning streak over rival Hillary Clinton and building momentum in a hard-fought U.S. presidential race.

Obama rolled to decisive victories in Virginia and the District of Columbia, running his hot streak to seven consecutive wins and expanding his lead in the pledged delegates who select the party's nominee.

Republican front-runner John McCain narrowly defeated his last major challenger, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, in Virginia, U.S. media projected, as McCain tried to move closer to clinching the party's nomination for the November election.

Maryland officials extended voting, which was supposed to end at 8 p.m. EST/0100 GMT on Wednesday, to 9:30 p.m. EST/0230 GMT as rain and freezing temperatures created travel hazards throughout the region.

Obama, who would be the first black U.S. president, had been favored in all three of Tuesday's contests after his big weekend wins in Maine, Louisiana, Nebraska, Washington and the Virgin Islands.

Obama had edged past Clinton in the race for pledged delegates who formally select a party nominee at a convention in August. A total of 168 delegates were at stake in Tuesday's voting.

Obama has 958 pledged delegates to Clinton's 904, according to a count by MSNBC -- well short of the 2,025 needed to clinch the Democratic nomination.

Ash is no more a part of 'Robot'!

It was officially announced that Ash was to play Rajinikanth’s lead lady in Shankar’s Robot, but it is official now that the former Miss World is no more a part of the project!

For super star fans who were all tipsy over the announcement that their hero would be paired with the woman rated as one of the world’s most beautiful women, this turn of events will indeed come as sad news! So what could be behind the twist in the tale? Well, there are two versions.

The first is that Ash Rai Bachchan is pregnant! Could it be that this lovely star has turned down the offer because she is expecting her first child and has hence decided against a project which is scheduled to start only later this year? Until the Bachchans decide to release the pregnancy news, if any, we’ll have to wait.

The second version is that Ash was offered a sum less than she desired, so she declined the role in a huff! Yes, it was earlier said that she had been offered a whopping 6 crores for her role and that she had been okay with it. Now the talk is that the actual offer was much less and not astronomical enough for Ash's taste.

No matter which version is true, the definite part about the news is that Ash is indeed out of Robot. So who is Shankar trying to rope in now? Deepika Padukone!

Will Deepika be willing to pick up where Ash left off? Well, that’s a whole other story!

Vivek seems to be pretty fortunate!

Before starting ‘Chandramukhi’, one of the biggest Kollywood grosser of all times the superstar, himself, had insisted the director of the movie, P. Vasu, to get Vadivelu’s call sheet first. Rajini is such a great fan of the comedian. The film went on to become a big hit and the comedy by Vadivelu was received well with rib-tickling humour.

But director Shankar opted to cast Vivek for his film ‘Sivaji’, as it was a city-based subject. So we all thought it would be Vadivelu again for the P. Vasu-directed project ‘Kuselan’ that will star the superstar, Pasupathi and Meena in the lead roles. But this time we have guessed it wrong because “Chinna Kalaivanner” Vivek has been booked yet again.

The reason?

We have reports suggesting that during the shooting of ‘Chandramukhi’ Vadivelu used to be late, and the superstar and the other cast had to wait for him. We also know that the superstar is strict on punctuality.

Superstar Rajinikanth is said to be upset over Vadivelu’s delay in coming to the sets on time, and this might be the reason for the scale tipping in favor of Vivek.

All we have to suggest to Vivek is “To make hay while the sun shines”!

Rajinikanth may enter politics in a year or two!

“I don’t know when and how I would come. But I will definitely come at the right time” – this is a famous punch dialogue of Superstar Rajinikanth. He uttered this way back in 1995 (in ‘Muthu’) when speculations about his entry into politics was dominating the political scene.
Though he hasn’t shown any inclination to come to the politics so far, his fans don’t take these words as mere filmy dialogue. They sincerely believe that this would come true one day or the other.
Now Rajini has added strength to their hopes. He has openly declared that he would think about entering politics after two years. He told this in Andhra Pradesh where he went to attend the marriage of the son of Murali, his assistant.
The first ever open statement by Rajini on his political entry has taken everyone in the film industry and political arena by surprise.
Meanwhile, those who belong to Rajini’s close circle have been developing a comprehensive database of Rajini fans all over Tamil Nadu. It is said that the names, addresses, phone numbers, and academic qualifications of the fans are being collected and recorded.
One could draw some conclusions putting together this statement and this kind of effort. It might be construed that Rajini thinks the “right time” is not far away.

Manorama, The Guinness Record Holder!....

Shah Rukh wants Gilchrist in his IPL team:

Adam Gilchrist has become the most wanted player for the inaugural Indian Premier League with none other than Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan lining up for the signature of the retiring Australian great for his Kolkata team, according to a newspaper report.
Khan, who bought the Kolkata franchisee for USD 85 million last month, has told former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who will skipper the team, to sign Gilchrist for the Twenty20 competition, which begins on April 18, Herald Sun reported.
Gilchrist is one of the 11 Australians, who have signed an expression of interest for playing in the IPL.
With the sponsorship conflict between CA and IPL organisers lingering on and Australia having commitments in Pakistan in March-April, Gilchrist could be the only Aussie player available for the cash-rich tournament.
Technically, there is also a two-year moratorium on retired players joining a franchisee team but it is understood that Gilchrist's playing in the IPL has become a mere formality after IPL organisers have hinted that they would waive the "cooling off" period in his case.
The report also claimed that Gilchrist can expect a base payment of USD 300,000, which could double or triple when the franchises bid for players, and he would be earning more in 44 days in the IPL than a full year of international action.

The Legacy of IIMs: How it All Started?

Pt.Jawaharlal Nehru's vision of modern technically advanced independent India saw its fulfillment in the development skilled technical hands and trained managers. And thus was laid the foundation of the IITs and the IIMs.

In the initial years (1950s), short-term management programmes run jointly by the Sloan School of Management, MIT and the All India Management Association dominated the management development scenario in India, besides a set of overseas training of groups of industrialists and senior civil servants in Europe and the US.

In 1961, the Government of India setup two IIMs - One in Calcutta and the other in Ahmedabad. The State Governments provided the land for the campus, and other infrastructure was developed by the grants provided by the Central Government.Because of the success achieved by these Institutes and the demand for more of such Institutes, the government in 1972 setup a third IIM at Bangalore and subsequently in Lucknow (1984), Kozhikode (1996) and Indore (1998).

Does drinking ice water burn more calories?...

It’s true that when you drink ice water, your body uses energy (calories) to raise the liquid’s temperature to body temperature. But not very much. Roger Clemens, DrPH (doctor of public health) in nutrition and biological chemistry, and associate director of regulatory science at the USC School of Pharmacy, walked us through the math. For the sake of simplicity, he didn’t take thermodynamics into account, which would change the numbers very slightly.
You have an 8-ounce glass of ice-cold water in front of you. That’s about 240 grams of water.
When you drink the ice water, which is roughly 4 degrees Celsius, your body will expend calories to bring it to body temperature, which is about 37.5 degrees Celsius; that’s a difference of 33.5 degrees. To raise 1 gram of water 1 degree Celsius, 1 calorie is expended. (This is a “little” calorie—what scientists use to measure small units of energy. The calories we refer to colloquially are actually 1,000 of these and are known as kilocalories in the science world.)
Raising 240 grams of water by 33.5 degrees Celsius will take 33.5 calories x 240 grams of water, which equals 8,040 little calories.
Dividing 8,040 by 1,000 gives us 8.04 food calories (kilocalories). Therefore, you’ll burn about 8 calories for each glass of iced calorie-free beverage you drink. That’s equal to about one Life Saver: not exactly a weight-loss miracle.
Using Clemens’s figures, it would take about 435 8-ounce glasses of ice water to lose a pound.
And do we have to tell you? Consuming large quantities of cold water can have serious health effects, such as an overall lowering of body temperature, a decrease in the functionality of the gastrointestinal tract, and, in extreme cases, anemia. Drinking a lot of water can also lead to water intoxication.

10 dirty little secrets you should know about working in IT:

If you are preparing for a career in IT or are new to IT, many of the “dirty little secrets” listed below may surprise you because we don’t usually talk about them out loud.

1.) IT pros frequently use jargon to confuse nontechnical business managers and hide the fact that they screwed up.

2.) Some IT professionals deploy technologies that do more to consolidate their own power than to help the business.

3.) Veteran IT professionals are often the biggest roadblock to implementing new technologies.

4.) You’ll spend far more time babysitting old technologies than implementing new ones.

5.) Vendors and consultants will take all the credit when things work well and will blame you when things go wrong.

6.) Your nontechnical co-workers will use you as personal tech support for their home PCs.

7.) Certifications won’t always help you become a better technologist, but they can help you land a better job or a pay raise.

8.) You will go from goat to hero and back again multiple times within any given day.

9.) It will be your fault when users make silly errors.

10.) The pay in IT is good compared to many other professions, but since they pay you well, they often think they own you.

MAT Analysis!....

The MAT test paper comprised objective multiple-choice questions without any specified sections. Although the MAT stressed on accuracy more than speed, it was important to use the allotted time wisely as students had to answer 200 questions in 150 minutes. Each question carried one mark. There was negative marking of 0.25 specified on the test booklet for the wrong answers. The paper had questions from 5 different areas, viz. Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency, Reasoning Ability and General Knowledge, with exactly 40 questions in each of them. The last exam before CET of this session came without any surprises in terms of the number of questions but the level of difficulty was average. In QA, the questions from pure Geometry were missing, though Mensuration and Trigonometry were present. Almost all the options were very unambiguous, so wise guessing proved fruitful. Questions on Data Interpretation were categorized in Bar graph, Pie-chart, Tables and Line graph. Most of questions are calculation intensive. In some cases options were also very close. So overall the section was time consuming. Five questions were asked from each area of Data Sufficiency and Data Comparison. Questions on Reasoning were quite straightforward. (Linear arrangement, Assumption based logical reasoning, Blood relation). Some reasoning based individual questions were lengthy. But the questions asked on Directions, Series were some of the single questions which were very easy.

ONLINE CAT: A CLARIFICATION!

An article appeared in Business Standard dated February 4, 2008 which gives an impression that a decision has been taken that IIMs will introduce online CAT from CAT 2009. This is totally incorrect. In view of increasing number of candidates IIMs are considering various alternatives for modifying the process of conducting CAT, if necessary. Online testing is one of those alternatives. The proposals are at the preliminary stage of discussion.
